What Addiction Treatment Programs do They Offer?

As we’ve said before, all addiction treatment programs are different. That is why it is so important to find a program that will cater to you. When on your search, make sure to check out programs each facility has, and what appeals to you. For example, here at Renewal Health Group, we offer a substance abuse program, dual diagnosis and a professional program.

  • The substance abuse programs treats just that: substance abuse. Substance abuse is a wide-ranging term which can describe a variety of harmful behaviors that involve both legal and illegal substances. Substance abuse, otherwise known as chemical dependency, can lead to disastrous results. Our substance abuse program treats this, as well as any underlying issues, through proper evaluations to put together a treatment program that will cater to each individual’s success and healing.
  • The dual-diagnosis program focuses in on treating substance abuse, along with underlying issues, that may be causing the substance abuse in the first place. Many people use because the circumstances in their lives are so overwhelming, they find it hard to be present. Through the substance abuse program, we dig into the underlying issues that may be causing the substance abuse in the first place. Through our proper evaluations, we put together a treatment plan that will work for each individual, combined with assessing the presence or absence of a mental health disorder.
  • The professionals program caters to the working professional. Sometimes, it can be difficult to determine if one has an addiction. Frequently, a working professional conceals their dependence due to their capacity to maintain their life’s obligations. This “functioning-addict” compartmentalizes and justifies their habit. This prevents them from taking the necessary steps to obtain sobriety. The longer one walks this dangerous line, the more damage will occur when their world inevitably collapses. We help by properly evaluating each individual, and putting together a treatment plan, that will work for their needs and circumstances.

What Types of Addiction Treatment Therapy Does a Facility Use?

Along with the treatment programs, it is also important to see what treatment methods a facility offers. This is the true bread and butter that makes up a person’s individual treatment. Some facilities offer a wide range of options, while others are very basic. Make sure to do your research and find what treatment methods interest you. Here at Renewal Health Group, we have a wide variety of treatment methods we utilize:

  • Individual Psychotherapy: Psychotherapy, also known as “talk therapy,” is when a person speaks with a trained therapist in a safe, confidential environment to explore and understand feelings and behaviors and gain coping skills.During individual talk therapy sessions, the conversation is often led by the therapist, touching on topics such as past or current challenges, experiences, thoughts, feelings, or relationships experienced by the person while the therapist helps make connections and provide insight. 1 Psychotherapy can help an individual eliminate or take control over problematic symptoms and can increase well-being and healing.
  • CBT—Cognitive Behavioral therapy: CBT is a form of psychotherapy that dives into your thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes and notes links, or connections between these influencers and how they affect your feelings, and behavior. CBT aims to enable you to create effective coping strategies for learning how to overcome different problems throughout your life. Thus, creating healthy foundations for understanding how to create lasting change in your behavior, setting you up for elongated success on your journey into sobriety.
  • DBT— Dialectical Behavior Therapy: DBT provides clients with new skills to manage painful emotions and decrease conflict in relationships. DBT specifically focuses on providing therapeutic skills in four key areas. First, mindfulness focuses on improving an individual’s ability to accept and be present in the current moment. Second, distress tolerance is geared toward increasing a person’s tolerance of negative emotion, rather than trying to escape from it. Third, emotion regulation covers strategies to manage and change intense emotions that are causing problems in a person’s life. Fourth, interpersonal effectiveness consists of techniques that allow a person to communicate with others in a way that is assertive, maintains self-respect, and strengthens relationships.
  • Group Therapy: This is a form of psychotherapy in which one or more therapists treat a small group of clients together as a group. The term can refer to any form of psychotherapy when delivered in a group format, including cognitive behavioral therapy or interpersonal therapy, but it is usually applied to psychodynamic group therapy where the group context and group process is explicitly utilized as a mechanism of change by developing, exploring and examining interpersonal relationships within the group.
  • Family Therapy: Disease affects the entire family structure. Often, it is family members who enable the addict to delve further into dependence. Because of this, families need to learn how to establish healthy boundaries, while creating a supportive system. It is important to recognize that recovery is important for all members within the family system. The goal is to reunite the family and promote healing through new and positive interactions. To accomplish these goals, the family system must learn specific skills. Regardless of past events, it is our hope our patient’s experience brings both healing to them, and their entire familial unit.
  • EMDR: There is a substantive body of research showing that difficult life experiences contribute to both psychological and biomedical pathology. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an empirically validated treatment for trauma. Upon completion, EMDR allows the patient to overcome the initial trauma and help replace the trauma with a healthier perspective on how one’s life experiences. EMDR pulls from one’s strengths and past positive experiences to enhance the individual’s well-being and healing process.
  • Neurofeedback: Your brain has what is called “neuroplasticity.” This means, it is malleable. In the same way that your brain has learned to crave drugs, you can unlearn that craving. At our Palm Springs Ranch, you can utilize neurotherapy to help retrain your brain and improve focus, rational thinking, the capacity to stay calm in stressful scenarios, and successfully identify and avoid relapsing triggers.
  • Equine Therapy (also referred to as Horse Therapy, Equine-Assisted Therapy, and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy): is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions between clients and horses. The use of EAT has roots in antiquity, and modern use of horses for mental health treatment dates to the 1990s. Equine Therapy involves activities (such as grooming, feeding, haltering and leading a horse) that are supervised by a mental health professional, often with the support of a horse professional. The goal of equine therapy is to help the client develop much needed skills and character traits, such as accountability, responsibility, self-confidence, problem-solving skills, and discipline.
  • Art Therapy: Art Therapy seeks to harness the creative art-making process. One of the often- overlooked side-effects of chemical dependency is the destruction of an individual’s natural creativity. Learning to recapture your natural creative process can provide immense healing to the client. Through analyzing the transference process between the therapist and the client, the therapist can identify the client’s symbolic self-expression as communicated in the art. Together, they can work on eliciting interpretations from the paintings. The program includes creative work spaces and a variety art projects.
  • Mindful Meditation: is meant to help you focus on what is true about you moment by moment. In this, you are learning to become ever-present within your reality. Mindful meditation offers a plethora of benefits including decreased stress, an enhanced ability to deal with illness, decreased depressive symptoms, and improved general health.
  • Music Therapy: Music therapy is the utilization of both music and musical elements by an accredited musical therapist to promote, maintain, and reestablish emotional, physical, and mental health. Because of music’s many qualities it can be used for a variety of issues from dealing with mental, behavioral, or emotional problems to relieving stress. It has been shown to treat anxiety and depression. Current studies continue to show that it can be successful with chemical dependency.
  • Holistic Healing: holistic healing can include a variety of treatments that seek to target the entirety of the mind, body, and spirit. These programs seek to teach you how to protect all areas of yourself, be it through the expression of exercises like yoga, mindfulness, and meditation.
  • Psychodrama: Psychodrama employs guided dramatic action to examine problems or issues raised by an individual or a group. Through utilizing experiential methods, sociometry, role theory and group dynamics, psychodrama helps individuals discover new insight, integration on cognitive, affective, and behavioral levels. Likewise, it provides clarity on issues as well as increasing emotional and physical health and enhances learning and developing new skill sets.
